Paying our dental office a visit every six months helps in the prevention or management of gum disease or other serious dental conditions. We take clients of all ages, so the whole family can benefit from our expertise.

Preventive Care

When you consistently visit us every six months for cleanings and checkups, we can help you avoid many dental issues, saving you time, money, and stress in the long run. During your checkups with your dentist in Surprise, you will be screened for oral cancer, gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities.

With yearly x-rays, Dr. Call can detect these issues much earlier than you can notice them on your own, especially because most dental issues don’t cause much discomfort to begin with.

During your cleaning, our hygienist will remove the excess plaque and tartar buildup that causes gum disease and tooth decay.

For most patients, it is recommended that you visit RGC Dentistry every six months, unless you are managing gum disease, which may require additional cleanings throughout the year.

Restorative Care

If you find yourself with a tooth in need of repair, RGC Dentistry offers the services you need from dental fillings to crowns and bridges. We provide durable and high quality restorations while ensuring your comfort throughout the process.

If you need a tooth restored, don’t delay your treatment. This could result in bigger problems for your oral health. Instead, contact RGC Dentistry to learn more about how we can help you.

Tooth Replacement Solutions

Missing one or more of your teeth affects every aspect of your life. Chewing and eating become challenging, while your confidence may be affected by the appearance of your smile. Dr. Call and her team offer excellent solutions for missing teeth including:

  • Dental implants – both placement and restoration
  • Bridges
  • Dentures and partials

Dr. Call would also be happy to discuss with you how dental implants can be used to restore multiple missing teeth by anchoring prosthetics such as bridges and dentures.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Are you satisfied with the appearance of your smile? Cosmetic dentistry can help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted, and you might be surprised to learn that you have multiple options to choose from!

Whether your smile just needs a quick boost with whitening or you would like to enhance it with porcelain veneers, RGC Dentistry can help you achieve your goals for your new look.

  • What Is General Dentistry?

A general dentist can offer a wide variety services such as the ones listed above. The goal of general dentistry is to diagnose and recognize the beginning stages of dental disease in your mouth so that it may be treated before the condition progresses. Sometimes, when more complex care is needed, a general dentist may coordinate care with a dentist that specializes in a certain procedure. An example of this is an Endodontist, a dentist who specializes in complicated root canals.

  • Why Consider RGC for Your General Dentistry Needs?

You've heard that we do general dentistry. What does this mean when it comes to your care or that of your family? Dr. Call and her team are here for you to treat all your general dentistry issues in a convenient and comfortable setting.

Do you have a sweet tooth you just can’t shake? With regular checkups and cleaning, we can spot cavities before they become an issue. RGC wants you to have a winning smile and freedom from pain and emergency visits.

  • What’s the Difference Between Cosmetic & General Dentistry?

While cosmetic dentistry has more of an emphasis on your appearance, general dentistry tends to focus on the health of the mouth. General dentistry can also involve cosmetic dentistry.  An improvement in the health of your mouth can also often result in an improvement in appearance! Teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and cosmetic bonding are some examples of cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Call offers both at her office.

Find out more about our dental cleaning services below.

Dental Exams and Cleanings

You may be one of many who fear going for dental cleanings because you have had a previous unpleasant experience. But when you go to the right dentist, cleanings are virtually painless and quick! Dental exams and cleanings are preventive dental procedures that dental hygienists perform to help patients achieve good oral health. During the procedure, a dentist will examine your mouth, teeth, and gums in addition to removing any tartar and plaque build-up on the teeth.

Benefits of Dental Exams and Cleanings

Apart from helping you have a beautiful smile, routine dental exams and cleanings will offer the following benefits:

  • When you go for a dental cleaning, your dentist will remove the stains on your teeth, leaving you with beautiful, bright teeth.
  • Dental cleanings and exams can prevent serious oral health conditions, such as gum disease.
  • Dental exams will help in the identification of oral cancer when it is still in its early stages.
  • Gum disease can lead to cardiovascular disease and other heart conditions. Regular cleanings will prevent both!

Why You Should Consider RGC Dentistry for Dental Cleanings and Exams

Dr. Robyn Call and her team at RGC Dentistry value their patients’ satisfaction above all else. If you’re nervous about your procedure, they are happy to accommodate you, whether you require sedation or just want a small comfort like a blanket to calm your nerves.

When you come for a dental exam, they will examine your teeth to determine if you have gum disease or other oral health problems. You will also have X-rays done to aid in the diagnosis of any oral diseases. The hygienist may use a painless, ultrasonic machine that uses water and vibrations to remove the stain, tartar and plaque on your teeth. They will then use metal dental tools to remove any remaining biofilm on your teeth. After this, the dental hygienist will polish and floss your teeth and additionally, may apply a coat of fluoride varnish which strengthens your teeth and can prevent cavities.

Dental exams and cleanings are vital to your confidence as well as your overall health. If you're in need of a dentist in Surprise, AZ, give us a call today to set up an appointment!

EXTRACTIONS

Don't delay treatment if you need a tooth removed!

Extractions

At RGC Dentistry, our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile for a lifetime.

Sometimes, though, in order to protect your oral health, a tooth extraction is required. We always consider this a last resort, and we strive to make the process as comfortable and smooth as possible for you.

Why Do I Need an Extraction?

There are a number of circumstances that would require a tooth extraction, including:

  • Wisdom teeth – Third molars will need to be removed if there’s no space for them, they are impacted (stuck beneath the gum line), or you can’t brush and floss them properly.
  • Deep decay – Tooth decay that has reached your root, caused an infection, and is now beyond what a root canal can repair will require an extraction to prevent damage to other healthy teeth.
  • Crowding – Patients having orthodontic treatment may need some teeth extracted if their teeth are too close together and there isn't enough space in their jaw.
  • A deep crack or fracture – A tooth that has been fractured to the point where it is affecting the root may need to be removed.
  • Periodontitis – Advanced periodontal (gum) disease may cause tooth loss.

If your tooth is infected and you’ve been told you need an extraction, it is important not to delay your treatment as a dental infection may spread to neighboring teeth or other critical areas of your body.

The Extraction Process

Dr. Call performs many extraction procedures here at our office; however, if an extraction is very complex, she may recommend a trusted oral surgeon for the procedure.

At RGC Dentistry, we strive to make every treatment procedure as comfortable as possible, and extractions are no exception. Dr. Call uses the best dental anesthetics to ensure that you are completely numb and you don’t feel anything during your procedure. Nitrous oxide can be used to help patients feel more relaxed during their extraction as needed.

Your team at RGC Dentistry will also be on hand to support you throughout your recovery process if you should have any questions or concerns.

Tooth Replacement Options

If your tooth that is being removed is not a wisdom tooth, it is a good idea to think about replacing it as soon as possible in order to protect your oral health. Tooth loss can lead to bone deterioration and your healthy teeth shifting and tilting without a replacement.

Dr. Call can discuss your tooth replacement options with you to help you decide the treatment that bests fits your budget and lifestyle, and we can guide you through the process from start to finish.

We are here for you! If you’ve been told you need a tooth extracted or you’re suffering from dental pain, contact RGC Dentistry to schedule an appointment and learn more about how we can help you.

ROOT CANAL THERAPY

Don't put up with tooth pain or an infection

Root Canal Therapy

Learning that you need root canal therapy may not seem like great news; however, believe it or not, there is actually a bright side.

If you need a root canal, it is likely that your tooth is infected, damaged, or traumatized to the point that it is affecting the nerve and root of your tooth. You’re probably experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort.

Here’s your good news: Contrary to popular belief, root canal therapy doesn’t cause pain. In fact, it actually relieves it – and it will allow you to preserve your natural tooth. This is much better in the long run than having to replace a tooth.

The Fear of Root Canals

The root canal is one of the most dreaded dental procedures; learning that you need one may fill you with immense anxiety, sometimes so extreme that you may consider simply living with diseased teeth to avoid further pain.

But root canals are designed to save an infected tooth and prevent further damage. Getting a root canal can be intimidating, no doubt; but with proper education and awareness, you can ease your stress and feel better knowing this is the best choice for your oral health.

  • What Is a Root Canal?

Root canals can be performed by general dentists, but they may also be done by a specialist known as an endodontist. These root canal dentists are experts in the procedure, so they know how to perform the most routine root extractions to more complicated surgical procedures in any part of the mouth.

During a root canal treatment, the dentist or endodontist repairs an infected and/or decaying tooth by removing the tooth's nerve and surrounding tissue called pulp. The inside of the tooth is then cleaned and sealed to prevent any bacteria from reentering it.

  • Why Do I Need a Root Canal?

Deep decay, infection, trauma from an accident or injury, and severe cracks or fractures in your tooth are reasons you may need a root canal.

If your tooth is abscessed or infected, it causes constant pain or a toothache. It’s also important to understand that a dental infection won’t go away without treatment. If you ignore an infection, it will progress and could affect neighboring teeth and result in tooth loss.

If you are experiencing the kind of dental pain that keeps you awake at night or prevents you from functioning throughout the day, it’s important that you contact Dr. Call right away.

  • Does Root Canal Therapy Hurt?

While root canals have long had the reputation of causing pain, this couldn’t be further from the truth. The pain you experience is caused by your infection. Root canal therapy actually relieves your pains and eliminates the infection.

Modern dentistry has made many advances that make root canal therapy more comfortable. This includes the development of excellent anesthetics, which ensure that you don’t feel anything during your procedure and also immediately relieve your pain.

Rotary endodontic tools allow Dr. Call to perform your procedure more efficiently since they are electric. Plus because they are made of titanium rather than stainless steel, they are more flexible and comfortable for the patient.

Dr. Call also offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as an option for patients who are feeling fearful about root canal therapy. Nitrous helps you to feel completely relaxed but leaves your system immediately after your procedure so it doesn’t interfere with your normal activities.

  • Can a Root Canal Save a Tooth?

Yes. The entire purpose of a root canal is to save a dying tooth and prevent rot or decay. Root canals also eliminate the severe tooth pain, swelling and discomfort that comes from a damaged tooth. In addition, root canals can prevent chronic infection that can become life-threatening if left untreated.

Root canals are not just a last resort, though many people only realize they need one after they have experienced significant decay or damage. Instead, this procedure is designed to save a tooth, restore its health and prevent it from causing you any further pain.

  • What to Expect After a Root Canal

Root canal recovery can cause mild to moderate pain, but it should not last more than three days. After the procedure, your dentist may prescribe an over-the-counter analgesic such as Ibuprofen or Advil to reduce swelling and pain.

The heightened sensitivity after a root canal is normal, but it can cause slight discomfort. You can manage this by staying away from hard foods and extreme temperatures. So, avoid consuming any hot or icy beverages until you have fully recovered.

Stress-relieving activities and good oral hygiene practices can help you manage your recovery by reducing pain, eliminating bacteria in the mouth, and promoting fast healing.

  • How to Avoid Root Canal Therapy

Did you know that many root canals can actually be avoided?

It’s true! All it takes is consistent visits to your dentist in Surprise every six months to avoid complex procedures like root canals.

This is because Dr. Call can detect tooth decay and other issues early on with x-rays and during your examination. Early detection allows us to treat tooth decay and cavities with a less invasive dental filling when you are proactive about your care.

If you or a loved one is experiencing dental pain – or even if it’s just time for your next dental exam, give RGC Dentistry a call to schedule an appointment.
